学佛学法要用一个“融”来定，佛法如果学得再好，没有融会贯通等于白学。有些人表面上在学，而没有融化在自己的心里和行为上，在修为上不开悟。怎样融化佛法呢？要应用宇宙的意识，宇宙的意识就是你的思维空间像宇宙这么大， 你想到的是全人类的疾苦，你的心要像宇宙一样，你的感觉，你的感受要像宇宙一样大，任何发生的痛苦，犹如自己的伤痛一样，人伤我痛，你就会慈悲为怀， 你要有这个意识，才能把佛法融在你的思维当中。才能把菩萨的精髓融会贯通， 真正融到你的心里去，你才会知足常乐。
To learn Buddhism, it is critical to internalise it. Even if you are very knowledgeable about the teachings of the Buddha-Dharma, if you don't internalise and apply it, it's the same as not learning at all. There are some people who seem to be learning, but they haven't internalised it into their thoughts and conduct. They haven't awakened yet. How do we internalise the Buddha-Dharma? Our mind must resonate with the consciousness of the universe, which means that we must expand our mental capacity to be as vast as the universe. You must feel concern for the suffering of humanity. Your mind must be like the universe; your feelings must also be as expansive as the universe. When suffering has happened anywhere in the world, it feels as though you're the one suffering. When others are hurt, you also feel their pain. If you think this way, you will become compassionate. With this sort of awareness, you could integrate the Buddha-Dharma into your thoughts. Only then could you internalise and manifest the essence of the Bodhisattva in your everyday lives. Once it's truly internalised into your mind, you'll attain contentment and happiness.
Without learning Buddhism, how many people are there is capable of such broadmindedness? Humans are classified as advanced animals who possess high intellect. The most significant difference between humans and animals is the human's mental capacity for complex thoughts. We must gain an understanding about the thoughts of Buddha, then internalise the consciousness of the universe and the Buddhas' and Bodhisattvas' thoughts into our everyday lives. Our mind must be able to tolerate all of humanity or go as far as the entire universe. This kind of thinking is Buddha's way of thinking. The wisdom of Buddha and Bodhisattvas can accommodate all sentient beings. They lead them on to the path of the Buddha-Dharma, they forgive sentient beings for all the sins they had committed in their past lives, they guide them to understand the underlying principles, they help reduce their pain and afflictions, they teach them how to internalise the Buddha-Dharma, they teach them the principles of the universe and how it functions, the principles of heaven and earth. For example, who would support the act of murder? Who hopes to be at war? People inherently like peace. People who dislike peace violate the natural moral principles and violate the natural principles of the universe.
You must be able to integrate your way of thinking with the level of spirituality that Buddhas' and Bodhisattvas' possess. Within the vast universe and its universal truth, you must seek the right way of life that is in accordance with it so that you won't deviate from the right path. People must learn to empathise and be tolerant of others. You must be able to tolerate anything and be able to forbear. For example, when somebody makes a mistake, you must empathise with them and forgive them. But Master here would like to emphasise the importance of internalisation, as tolerance alone is not enough. Tolerance is merely one of the prerequisites; it doesn’t represent that you have internalised the Buddha-Dharma inside your mind. Only when you do both, you would possess Buddha's way of comprehending the world.
我们人要能够接受天上来的佛光。从天上来的佛光，我们要会接受，有一句话叫“佛光普照”，佛光天天有，只不过你们看不见，不能接受到。佛光是怎样普照的呢？佛光普照犹如太阳光一样，能照到每一个角落，但是你们的业障太深， 心里的污垢太重，所以感觉不到。污垢太多，就像你躲在一间屋子里，把门全部关上，把窗帘全部拉上，这时你还能看见阳光吗？你说你的心里还能看见佛光吗？ 难道菩萨说佛光普照是假的？佛光普照是真的，是因为你把门窗全部关起来了， 接受不到佛菩萨的光。所以千万要记住，佛菩萨的光来时，要接受它，要有一个很纯洁的肉体和灵魂，才能接受到佛光。如果佛光普照，而你没有接受到佛光， 就叫无缘。太阳照到哪里哪里亮，但是你躲在房间里就照不到太阳了，躲在房间里的人，就像你心里的业障，看不见光明，看不见阳光，俗称“无缘众生”。
We must be able to receive the Buddha's universal light that shines down from heaven. There is a saying that the 'Buddha's universal light shines everywhere'. In fact, the Buddha's universal light is shining on us every day; it's just that you can't see it and you aren't able to receive it. How does the Buddha's universal light shine everywhere? Buddha's universal light shines like the rays of the sun; it can shine on every corner of the world. But because your negative karma is too significant, and the contaminants inside your mind are also significant, that's why you're unable to feel it. There are too many contaminants, just like when you're hiding inside your room and closed the doors and pulled the curtains over. In this situation, would you see any sunlight? Do you think you can still see the universal light of the Buddha? Surely the Bodhisattvas didn't lie when they said that Buddha's universal light shines everywhere? Buddha's universal light is true. It's just that you've enclosed yourself with the doors and curtains closed, that's you aren't able to receive the light of the Buddha and Bodhisattvas. That's why you must take note. When the light of the Buddha and Bodhisattvas come, you must receive it. You must have a pure physical body and spirit to receive it. If the light of the Buddha and Bodhisattvas came and you weren't able to receive it, then it's considered that you didn't have an affinity. Where sunlight shines, it gets bright. But If you hide inside your room, then the sunlight can't shine on you. These people are likened to the people who have a lot of karmic obstacles inside their mind, so they can't see the light, they can't see the sunlight. They are considered as sentient beings who don't have a karmic affinity (with the Buddha-Dharma yet).
People have outflows in both body and mind. For example, wicked thoughts could cause an outflow; distracting thoughts while reciting Buddhist sutras would cause an outflow in energy levels. When people are doing bad deeds with their body, they also incur a physical outflow. Physical outflows aren’t just outflows/ flaws in their internal physical condition, for example when people listen to inappropriate things or verbally abuse others, it causes outflows from an energy point of view and a mental point of view. The outflow of our mind will cause our body to suffer outflows too, so the mind has an impact on the body. When one is not focused, or have unwholesome thoughts, or being depressed, their mind will have an outflow. Consequently, they will feel unwell, suffering symptoms like stomachaches and heartaches, etc. Poor health will affect our state of mind, and in turn, our state of mind will affect our health.
Therefore a person who is cultured practises cultivation of both body and spirituality so that they harmonise and combine as one. That is called 'union of the two intellects'. The two intellects are fate-intellect and body-intellect. Fate-intellect is your fate, your spirit, and it contains everything you did in the past and previous life. Your body-intellect is your body, and it contains all the karma generated in the past and previous life. To cultivate both intellects, you have to cultivate your physical body to become pure, and it must not commit any unwholesome acts. That is body-intellect. You must also cultivate your state of mind and spirit to become pure, this way it's called 'union of the two intellects', and also known as 'paired cultivation as one body'.
